Going Through A Rough Patch?

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. On the surface, to the naked eye we are all very well but underneath people are fighting world war me. It’s been a tough few weeks and  as you know I usually write posts that are upbeat and motivating but for the last few days,my heart has been really heavy. A few of my close friends are going through tough times and some of the stuff is absolutely heart-breaking. The idea of this post is to just extend the same encouragement that I’ve given to those around me and that I’ve also received during my darkest hours.

As much as I am all about female empowerment, I understand you will not be fully empowered if we don’t address the things that cause you to stay up all night crying under the covers: the things that cause you to drift off during work hours asking God why me, or the things that have made you loose your faith wondering what’s the point.

I’m well aware that some people that read this blog may not believe in God but personally, that’s my rock so I can’t lead you anywhere else except where I’ve been to find hope.So here’s the truth, God loves you and that isn’t about to change just because you’re having a tough time at the moment. The same God whose been with you while everything is rosy, is the same God whose got you even when things are upside down. This hell is going to pass and you will look back and realise that you’ve survived what you thought would break you. Take each day as it comes; don’t think too much about tomorrow and what it holds or the implications of your current situation on your future. If anything it means God has rocked your world to give you a better one.God holds your future.

Here are my practical tips on staying on top of things

1)Pray- Even when you feel like the situation is absolutely beyond hope.God is a God of the impossible. You may say but Bronwyn I have prayed; nothing seems to be changing. God hears you loud and clearly. Here are a couple of verses that just remind me that God’s got me.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him,  and he will make straight your paths.

For your personal reading: 1 peter 5:7 Jeremiah 29:11-13, Psalms 28:7

2)Find a confidant- Having a friend or a mentor who is able to stand with you through the hard times is everything. There nothing worse than feeling all alone.

3)Find time to do things that make you happy-I can’t emphasise how important this is. It’s easy to spend all day and night meditating on how the situation could escalate but instead give your mind a break and do what you love. Whatsoever things are good, noble meditate upon these things.

4)Reach out to others: take your focus away from yourself and you help others in the process: you will find the experience uplifting.

With love always
